Pair of 18 Carat Two Colour Gold Candlesticks

A beautiful pair of SOLID 18ct gold candlesticks, entirely hand made and weighing nearly 70 ozs. That is a lot of gold! No vermeil, no weighting—just solid 18 carat gold.
The stems are Solomnic columns [an ancient architectural form], made initially from carved wood. The gold is then beaten over the wood template and applied in a heavy gauge and the wood is burned out and removed completely. A painstaking, yet ancient process. The base and the tops are lightly hand hammered to give an attractively soft patina. The candlesticks are made in solid 18 carat pale yellow gold with 18 carat white gold rims.
